.ZA Domain Name Space is subject to new strict laws that affect you, your registrants and your business.
New strict regulations and license requirements have already been drafted and submitted for public consultation.
After review of the draft regulations and consultation with ZADNA it is evident that CO.ZA domains and others administered by ZADNA are subject to new questionable and unexplainable requirements.
Few ccTLD's operators require personally identifiable information to be provided at the time of domain registration - a matter which will need to be challenged by the constitutional court.
Few regulatory bodies demand unrestricted access into a registrar's network and infrastructure in order to perform "performance testing and audits"
Few ccTLD operators require that registrars must be accredited by both a registry and pay additional license fees to a second governing body - this will dramatically increase the cost of co.za domains.
How do you stop them?
If you want to move away from this type of control then we recommend registering your domain with a new LTD called .AFRICA
Currently this is expensive to register (R350+) but with time this cost will come down and become cheaper than .ZA to own. Keep in mind that .ZA will rise in price due to the extra number of additional license fees we will have to pay in the near future if this becomes law.
